Civiciti
Creating peaceful, just and inclusive societies will be extremely difficult in the absence of effective, accountable and inclusive institutions, as the SDG 16 and its targets reflect. The UN states “e-participation technologies expand opportunities for civic engagement, including increased possibilities for people to participate in decision-making processes and service delivery to make societies more inclusive”. Civiciti overcomes the main failure factors of citizen participation programs.

How does your innovation work?
Civiciti is a suite of cloud based participatory tools for citizen engagement, enabling multidirectional participation, discussion, consultation and deliberation. It is a fully online solution which can be deployed and activated within minutes, requiring only a few clicks on the signup form on the website or mobile application. The Civiciti platform combines a global repository of open data with a set of interaction, data aggregation and exploration tools, discussion and deliberation. An open and anonymized data bank for academic research and public policy analysis is also included, organized vertically by people and places, horizontally by topic and issue. End-to-end data encryption ensures the secrecy of citizen identity and a proprietary “immutable log” technology that guarantees the system’s integrity and auditability. We envision Civiciti to become the standard solution in citizen engagement worldwide, used on an ongoing basis by a large volume of diverse users (citizens, civil society organizations, governments, universities, etc.) in both developed and developing countries. Our goal is to reach 500 million of registered users by 2026. For the time being, we are planning to measure governments and citizens’ satisfaction, number and profile of registered users, and volume of data generated as relevant indicators. We will keep learning from experts on new impact evaluation methods.
